Jawara Stephenson (aka "Pooh"), Class of '10, describes his two years of playing for Men's Basketball. "My basketball team has been a good experience. It is a privilege, and the bond among my teammates is growing. Being part of a tradition is a good feeling."
In particular, the game against Caldwell made one weekend more exciting than the others. Holy Family Men's Basketball team won 78 - 76.
"During the Caldwell game," Stephenson continued, "the team and I came with a fire and will to win the majority of the game. Since it is my senior year, I'm going to miss playing in the competition. Comparing my two years, this one was better because of my bond with my teammates."
Kelly Brady, Class of '13, represented Women's Basketball and quoted some of her teammates. She began, "In order to fully describe the Holy Family Women's Basketball team, I believe I must quote Erin Mann when she stated, 'We are not only teammates, but we are sisters, in essence a true family'. Thanks, Erin!"
Brady continued, "Our teammates are always there to encourage us and help each other up when we are down. As a team, we are continuing on a journey towards getting that banner. To conclude, I have the answer to the age-old question: 'What do Tigers dream of, when they take a little tiger snooze?' "VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Indeed, both teams are hungry for victory. Not only do the players want victories, but also, fans are eager to see them win.
"Recognition and school spirit can help us out. The support from fans is necessary for our team." Stephenson added.
At one basketball game, many Holy Family students were there cheering on the blue and black. A few fans were glad to share their thoughts.
"I have attended more than two basketball games for men. It's good. All members of the Men's Basketball team are my friends." proudly said Cara Przybylowicz, Class of '13.
"Cara and I have a good time cheering on for Holy Family University!! Go tigers!!" added Mackenzie Bickes, Class of '13.
