Valentine's Day is one of those holidays where there is great joy or great despair. For many people without 'someone special' this day is often met with depression, and even for those who are in a relationship, V-Day often doesn't lead up to believed expectations. Unlike the traditional belief that it's a 'love-filled day with a crazy cherub flying around with heart arrows' why not treat this day as an excuse to just be happy in doing things that you enjoy?! No matter what your relationship/marital status is, there are so many things that you can do to truly enjoy February 14th, especially in the heart of Bucks County.

Whether you go out with your friends, your dog, your significant other, or even your parents, New Hope is a forgotten gem that is only about 45 minutes away from Holy Family. Besides the great scenery, there are many great shops, restaurants, cafes, tours etc. There's even a footbridge crossing the Delaware, which can certainly be a fine choice for a romantic walk.

For the not so romantically inclined, there's a great brewery restaurant (Triumph) and a winery not too far North on River Road. Both boast great food and drinks, entertainment, tours, and often live music. Visitors may also enjoy touring the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad with one of the oldest running steam engines in Pennsylvania.

There are also plenty of things to do in nearby Lahaska, home to Peddler's Village and the great Rice's Flea Market. Ladies, if you've never been to Rice's I strongly urge you and your friends to go early on a Tuesday morning. (www.ricesmarket.com) Peddler's Village has many more shops, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, and even a Murder Mystery Dinner Tour on Fridays and Saturdays (reservations required).

Regardless of what you do, who you're with, or how you decide to spend your Valentine's Day, don't forget about you. I agree with the sign outside the Greater Philadelphia YMCA that states "Don't forget to love yourself on Valentine's Day".
