Holy Family's first art gallery of the year, Reflections on Projections, Art, and Love, features the work of art psychotherapists, Michelle L. Dean and Michele D. Rattigan. The exhibit ran from January 13 to February 1 in the lower level of the John M. Perzel Education and Technology Center.
Both of the women's work is vibrant and alive, using bright colors in small spaces. Also, there are a number of three-dimensional mixed media pieces as well as an assortment of photographs mixed in with the paintings.
According to the artistic statement posted in the gallery, Rattigan describes her work, which is primarily oil pastels and watercolors, as "altered environments and imagery inspired by dreams and the unconscious.
Dean, who, according to her artistic statement, prefers realistic, narrative paintings "began exploring less intensive mediums." All of her featured pieces were created within the past six months.
The next exhibit, There Is No Alternative, features the work of Patrick Grugan. The exhibit will run from February 3 to the 25. An opening event will be held Tuesday, February 9 from 6-8 PM. There will be refreshments and a presentation from the artist.
