Emmy Award Winner for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Genie Francis, is best known for her role as Laura Spencer on General Hospital. For twenty-six years she was a daytime television icon with the biggest fan base. She left the show in 2002, made a brief return in 2006, and then again in 2008. Throughout her career as an actress, Francis has portrayed many characters, such as a victim of rape, a young woman living in the time of abolition and slavery, and a comatose patient in a mental institution. But now she has returned to prime time television in not just one, but two original movies.
Back in December of 2007, the Hallmark Channel debuted their newest original movie, "The Note." In the film, Francis took on the role of Peyton MacGruder, an uninspired newspaper columnist who is failing miserably at bringing in readership. Told in no uncertain terms that the paper is going to drop the column unless she can find a way to connect with her readers, Peyton realizes that good practical information is no longer going to cut it and that she needs to inject more heart into her column. Moments later, news of a tragic plane crash makes her question whether or not the passengers knew that they were going to die or if they had some time. It also makes her wonder what she would say if she only had time for one last thought.
Later that night, Peyton finds a note that had washed up on the shore, and it appears to be from one of the victims of the deadly crash of flight 848. All the audience knows is that the note is addressed only to "T" and signed "Dad." Only Peyton knows the message that the note itself contains. Truly inspired, Peyton decides that she wants to find the intended recipient of the note and take her readers along for the ride. Because fate has entrusted her with this note, she feels as though she should do everything in her power to unite that father with his child. She must do all that she can to deliver that one last message to a grieving soul.
